Cocoa House
Cocoa House was completed in August,1965 at a height of 105 metres, which was once the talest building in Nigeria. It is located in Dugbe, Ibadan, Oyo State and is also a major tourist attraction site. Millions of people have visited this site and people still do.
It was formerly known as "Ile Awon Agbe" which means "House Of Farmers". The name was later changed to Cocoa House becuse it was built with the proceeds of Agricultural commodities (cocoa,rubber,timber/wood) of the Western State of Nigeria, the name was also changed because there was a cocoa tree planted in front of the building.
It is a 26-storey building and is the property of O'dua Investment Company Ltd.
The entire building was gutted by fire on January 9,1985, which began on the top floors from a malfunctioned electrical equipment. It was closed from the public for use and renovated and opened for commercial use on August,1992.
